Card Recognition
WSU designed thank you cards are available through all supervisors that can be used for a less formal thank you. Additional cards are available through the main reception desk.
Recognition Training
Training will be provided to supervisors on how to provide meaningful recognition to staff. Training may be provided through HRS classes, online training and various website offerings.
Safety Training Awards
Facilities Operations staff members who volunteer to provide the annual first aid training course to their peers will receive special recognition. Those employees who receive the required training to teach this course and spend one year training staff members will receive their choice of a Facilities Operations jacket or shirt at the close of the first year. For subsequent years that they continue to teach the training course, they can choose a Facilities Operation shirt each year at the close of the year. Effective January 1, 2006.
Nominations/Voting
Everyone is eligible to nominate an employee or group for the quarterly award, including staff, management or customers. Nomination forms are available in many of the shop and office areas, they are available from supervisors, managers, and the McCluskey reception desk and an online form is available on the web. The person making the nomination is asked to provide the nominee’s name and a 2-3 sentence explanation of why the employee should be considered for the award.
All staff members are given the chance to vote on the nominees at the end of each quarter. Ballots are provided to each area with deadlines for completion. The ballot will include the employees name and why they were nominated. The committee is responsible for counting ballots and making the final decision in the case of a tie. Staff members can only receive the quarterly award once per 12 month period.
Supervisors, managers and upper management are not included in this program. If nominations are received for them, a letter of acknowledgement is sent the nominee, but they are not included in the voting. If a nomination is received for a group of two or more employees together, the nomination will be included in the Kudos section of the quarterly newsletter, but not included as a nominee for this program.
Presentation of Awards
Managers for each area are notified of the winners in their area. The employee has the option to receive their award either directly from their manager or to receive it at the quarterly pizza party provided to the award winners and their supervisor. Quarterly award winner’s names and pictures (if approved by the winner) are inserted in the quarterly Facilities Focus newsletter and on our web site. Award winners will be given a recognition pin, printed certificate and have their name engraved on the divisional award plaque. All nominees will receive a letter from the committee acknowledging their nomination. Updated January 23, 2006.
