Facilities Operations
has 13 technicians that possess mechanical knowledge and technical skills
specializing in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning HVAC/R and
Refrigeration. The HVAC/R duties for the campus are widely varied
and include a multitude of different equipment and systems.
Of course the first thing that comes to mind are
“Thermostats”. Although,
there are in excess of 8,000 on campus, it is only a small portion of
the workload these technicians perform. Dealing with compliance
issues for labor & industries---like annual fume hood certifications
for the 800 fume hoods, and maintaining the hazardous waste facility
incinerator within compliance of the state Department of Ecology and
federal “Clean Air Act,”---are all in a days work.
As part of WSU’s maintenance “TEAM” and using their special skills, you will see them working together with plumbers, refrigeration mechanics, electricians, building maintenance mechanics or about any other crafts or trades professional you can think of to “Keep It Running”.
