Surplus Stores
WSU Surplus Stores provides for the disposal of all university property. University property is defined as items that have a current inventory number, items without inventory numbers and supplies. (When your pencil gets too short to use, send it to Surplus.) WSU Surplus only handles surplus from the University and other agencies. If you have Surplus at home that is not owned by the university or the State of Washington, you are encouraged to donate it to a non-profit organization such as the Goodwill or Salvation Army. All items must come through Surplus in accordance with State of Washington laws. All surplus must be sold to the public on a competitive bid basis or first-come, first-serve basis. Before items can be sold to the public Surplus must ensure that there is not a need for the item on campus or with another state agency. All public sales must be advertised to ensure the public has fair access to the surplus. Disposal of State Surplus is governed by (WAC 236-48-190, WAC 236-48-1901, RCW 43.19.1920). There are special requirements that must be met before donations are possible. Please review the Surplus Policies and Procedures. The fastest way to dispose of your surplus is to bring it out to Surplus Stores. The second fastest way to to fill out a pickup request form on our web site. Washington State University Surplus Stores supports the university and individual departments in getting the maximum utilization of assets through programs promoting reutilization of university, state and federal surplus property and the repair, reuse, and disposal of university property at fair market prices. Surplus Stores offers items to the public at monthly public sales, through sealed bids and online auction sites.Surplus Stores is only open to the public during the scheduled public sales. There is no warranty or returns for items purchased from Surplus by the public. All items are sold as-is, where-is. You are encouraged to inspect the items carefully before making your purchase. Surplus Stores is open to purchases from Agencies on a daily basis (the public is only able to purchase during our public sales. Here is a list of units that qualify as agencies:
We are open for agency purchases on weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. You are welcome to shop for your agency any day except the day before and day of our public sales. Items that are not sold to agencies are sold at monthly public auctions. Please visit our website for more information. Washington State University Surplus receives computers, audiovisual equipment, furniture, electronics, food service equipment; all items no longer needed by WSU. We have 6,000 square feet of items set aside for sale to WSU departments, government and nonprofit agencies.
