THE ENERGY CONSERVATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

We would like to encourage, recognize and  reward sustained efforts by WSU faculty and staff that reduce energy use in the various Washington State University facilities associated with the Pullman Campus.

"The university spends about $10 million annually for electricity and steam generation.  Even a 1 percent reduction will amount to a savings of $100,000 campus wide." -Terry Ryan,
WSU Energy Manager

Pilot Program Description:
Energy use in Qualifying Facilities will be tracked on a monthly basis and analyzed to determine the amount of energy reduction or increase against the monthly Energy Baseline for the facility.  A weather correction factor is applied to adjust for weather changes.

The monthly Energy Savings will then be calculated using the applicable unit energy rates.  The monthly Energy Savings will have a positive or negative value dependant on whether energy use has been reduced (+) or increased (-).

The monthly Energy Savings will aggregate in an Energy Savings Account (ESA) for that facility until the end of the current Reward Period.

At the end of each Reward Period an Energy Savings Incentive equal to 50% of the value of the ESA will be transferred to the applicable Participant from the Utilities account and the ESA will be zeroed out.

If you have any questions about the Energy Conservation Incentive Program (ECIP) please contact Terry Ryan (tryan@wsu.edu) with the Energy Department at 335-9352.
