The WSU Compost Facility supports the university and individual departments
conduct their day-to-day operations and research by managing the Universities
organic waste stream in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
The WSU Compost Facility only sells compost to nurseries and landscape supply
companies. If you would like to purchase compost for your own use, you will have
to purchase it from a nursery of landscape supply company that sells WSU
Compost. We have list of current vendors available
on our website.
For legal and logistical reasons, the WSU Compost Facility only processes
organic waste from official WSU sources and cannot accept non-university waste.
Please check with your local
waste hauler or landfill site
to see what services they provide.
Yes it is safe. Each batch of WSU Compost is tested. Our testing program is
one of the most comprehensive in the nation. There is always a risk that
herbicides can get into a compost system, but our Quality/Testing program assures contaminated product will not be
distributed.
